Cycling has become a very popular sport in the past years – more and more people use the bicycle for the active relaxation in the nature. Cycling has definitely gained an importance in the meaning of active utilization of lesure time and has become a dynamic trend of these days.
In July 2000 there was an official opening of distance cycling path EUREGIA EGRENSIS.
"The distance cycle-way EUREGIA EGRENSIS" is a touristic path for cyclists and its length is over 500 km through the areas of Sasko, Duryňsko, Bavorsko and all the Czech Republic. It is marked by the logo of EUREGIA EGRENSIS and it is possible to adapt it individually or eventually divide it into shorter stages. Each cyclist can decide himself whether he wants to go through all the cycle-way or just its part.
The extension of the cycle-way EE to the south
The cycle-way Euregia Egrensis was extended by another part over Tachovsko and Bavorsko areas and therefore created a new circuit. All the cycle-way EE measures now about 1000 km. The ceremonial opening of the southern part took place at the border crossing Tillyschanz/Železná on 19th of June 2004 and many important personalities from both countries participated.
